Self Care For All Areas Of Our Life

Renee is a dear friend. I met in Sedona Arizona at a Spiritual Retreat.  She is intuitive, encouraging and well versed on the subject of self care.  She has collaborated with me on this blog post.

Self care is ESSENTIAL in our lives for building resilience towards those stressors which we cannot eliminate.  We to live our lives to our utmost potential, so we need to take steps to care for our Body and Mind.

People wrongly assume that Self Care is a luxury.  That’s why they remain generally fatigues, irritable, tired and overwhelmed most of the time.   We need to understand that Self Care has to be a Priority in their lives.  It is then that they can make their live seem worthwhile.

An American Journal has described Self-Care as a multidimensional and multifaceted purposeful engagement in strategies that promote healthy functioning.

We can observe that once in a while, going on an occasional diet or even playing a game is not going to consequence. We need to have a sense of regularity. building a schedule for ourselves will keep us monitored completely.will help keep you monitored completely. We need to categorize the various types of self care for our own convenience so that when we look at it objectively we can know how to handle every area of our lives.

Importance of Physical Self Care

We know there is a strong connection between the mind and body. We need to keep the body in a good physical condition, so that our mind remains calm and happy.

Physical self care makes you ask the following questions:

  • Do you sleep enough?
  • Do you eat healthy?
  • Are you exercising enough?
  • Is your body adjusting well to your diet?

Mental Health

The way you Think is completely responsible for your mental health issues . In order to remain in good mental health, keep the following in mind:

Do things to keep your mind working sharp….

  • You can do puzzles etc?
  • Watch movies and read books to inspire yourself.
  • Practice things that keep you young and mentally healthy.
  • Practice Self Acceptance and Self Compassion.
  • Maintain a good inner dialogue.

Puzzles (online) are my new thing when I need to settle down and take my mind off of the busy day. I allow myself a half an hour of puzzle time, believe it or not it does work, try it you might like it.
SIDE NOTE: they have some beautiful artwork puzzles. I take pictures of them afterwards hoping to use them as art on my walls.

SOCIAL Self Care

We all have different social needs and there are no specific hours for social interactions. We need to invest our energy in building our relationships with others wisely. We need to figure our own types of social needs and then build our personal social agenda around them. We tend to neglect ourselves when social life becomes too busy.
I am a social butterfly, so for me interaction with people is key for my overall spirits and my health.

Emotional Self Care

We all carry negative emotions like anger, fear, sadness. Emotional self care is a way if acknowledging and expressing your feelings on a regular basis.  You may relieve yourself by sharing with your partner or friend, your day’s story.
Emotional self-care is like giving yourself a warm hug from within. Who doesn’t like a HUG? It’s all about recognizing and tending to your feelings, allowing yourself to unwind and feel at peace. To address it personally, try carving out time for activities that bring you joy, journaling your thoughts, talking to a supportive friend or therapist, practicing mindfulness or meditation, and giving yourself permission to say no to things that drain your emotional energy. Remember, taking care of your emotions is just as vital as taking care of your physical health—it’s a beautiful way to nurture your inner self.
I mediate when I feel out of sorts, I call it geeing Centered.  It takes practice to shut our mind down into concentrate on just our breathing. Because we do that mindlessly. So if you do attempt meditation, don’t be hard on yourself. It takes practice like everything new.

You can ask yourself the following:

  • Do you incorporate any such activities into your life that help you feel recharged?
  • Do you have a healthy way to process your emotions?

SPIRITUAL Self Care

This has nothing to do with religion. Nurturing your spirit is essential. It could be just anything that gives you a deeper sense of meaning or understanding. Also a sense of connection to the universe.

There are several ways of accomplishing, spiritual (whatever your beliefs are) From following a motivational speaker, like Tony Robbins, or Mel RobbinsMel Robbins (no relation).

It is import to consider the following questions:

  • Are you feeling fulfilled in your spiritual practices.
  • Do you have any questions about your life experiences

Customize Your Own Plan

You need to assess your personality. Address those issues of your life that need more attention and self care. If you feel certain areas of life are being neglected, create a plan to change those.

Ultimately of course the onus is on you. It will only be effective to facilitate and enhance your life if you will personally stay in charge.

What are some of your self care routines?
