Maybe you’ve taken on longer working hours lately, or you’ve welcomed a new member of the family? No matter what’s changed in your usual schedule, you’re currently out of free time to do anything else! That usually means smaller tasks, such as wiping the kitchen down and making the bed, fall by the wayside. A major Cleaning up your house  is not a priority mainly because you have run out of time.

Only Clean What You Can See

We often like to tidy up as we go. However, if you already feel all over the place with your responsibilities, having a scattered brain won’t allow for this. So let’s simplify the idea even further. Wherever you’re standing right now, tidy what’s directly in front of you.
If you’re in the living room and just stood up from the sofa, tidy up the coffee table. If you’re in the kitchen and facing the sink, wash up a few dishes and wipe down the draining board area. Then call it there! Really, if you’ve got 5 or 6 minutes before you need to go pick up the kids or head back to work, only clean what you can see.

Make a List

To do list on desk

Following on from the baby steps approach above, make a list when you’ve got a spare couple of minutes regarding the bigger tasks you want to get done. If it’s all down on a to-do list and you can add and remove items as you’d like, you’re not going to get overwhelmed by your thoughts.
You can then work systematically through it week by week (or month by month), and your home will soon be tidy.

Keep Your Cleaning Supplies Handy

Cleaning can be quite the time-consuming task. If you find yourself rummaging around for your cleaning tools and supplies, it only adds to the time it takes to get the job done.  To boost efficiency, it’s wise to organize all your cleaning essentials within arm’s reach and in their designated areas. For instance, keep toilet brushes and cleaners in the bathroom, and place dishwashing soap by the sink.

My Go To Supplies

Likewise, strategically place cleaning appliances where they’re most needed. If your second floor sees more carpet traffic, store the vacuum cleaner there. With everything easily accessible, you’ll not only save time but also conserve your energy for other tasks.
Toilet brushes and cleaners should be inside the bathroom, while dishwashing soap should be placed on the sink.
In the same way, you should stow cleaning appliances where you need them the most. Do you have more carpets on the second floor of your home? Then it’s best to keep the vacuum cleaner there. By keeping things more accessible, you’ll save not just time but also energy.

One Touch Rule

Keep clutter at bay by implementing the “one touch” rule. Whenever you handle an item, put it back in its designated place immediately. This prevents piles from forming and saves you the hassle of tidying up later.

10-Minute Tidy-Up

Set aside just 10 minutes each day to tackle small cleaning tasks. Whether it’s wiping down kitchen counters, folding laundry, or straightening up the living room, a little bit of focused effort goes a long way in maintaining a tidy space. Baskets and containers in each room make organizing and tidying up a room are synonymous.

Prioritize High-Traffic Areas

Focus your cleaning efforts on the areas of your home that see the most use. By prioritizing high-traffic zones like the entryway, kitchen, and bathroom, you can make a big impact on the overall cleanliness of your home without spending hours on end cleaning every corner.

Consider Outsourcing For Help

Household chores can certainly feel very overwhelming.  If that is your situation, it might be time to consider outsourcing for some much-needed help! With a little assistance, you can enjoy a tidier home without sacrificing precious time with loved ones or for yourself. Let’s explore the possibilities together! If you really don’t have any time at all, it’s time to hire someone to carry out the worst of the tasks for you! Take something like Carpet Cleaning; filling a carpet cleaner, going back and forth over the rug, and then waiting for it to dry before you do a second treatment requires a good few hours of free time. You don’t have that, so get someone else to do it for you! You can hire a special service like Molly Maid or others in your area. You don’t need to feel bad about needing to do this; not everyone has the time and energy to take care of their home, and if you want something done right, you shouldn’t do it while tired and completely wiped out!
