I thought I would share some quick tips about caring for Cast Iron Cookware today. I am still trying to learn how to use it. Are you also “new” to the Cast Iron Cookware Brigade?
Many of my friends have this cookware and they rave about it all the time and the things that they use it for as far as cooking… well lets just say I am always AMAZED.
I have used mine and was never really sure of the correct way of cleaning so I went to the source, companies that sold products that could clean the cookware and actually showed you how. I don’t have any affiliation with the company I just thought I would share what I have learned and perhaps it can also give you the tools to help with maintenance.
There are two types of Cast Iron I will share cleaning tips with you:
- Solid Cast Iron
- Enameled Cast Iron

Instructions
Let your cookware cool.
Hand wash your enameled cast iron with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush.
If the food is extra sticky, soak the pan in soapy water and use a nylon scraper to remove the residue.
- Dry it with a towel right away because the rim around the edge isn’t enameled and could rust if it’s left to air dry.
