Bathroom Decluttering: Essential Guide

Does your bathroom feel more like a cluttered storage room than a serene space? If you’re tired of wasting time searching for essentials, it’s time to take action and reclaim your bathroom.

Bathroom

You know, there comes a time in every home when we have to take a good, hard look at our bathrooms and say, “Enough is enough!” It’s amazing how quickly bathroom cabinets and drawers turn into catch-alls for expired products, worn-out tools, and things we never use. If you’ve ever found yourself digging through a cluttered drawer just to find a fresh razor or a hair tie that isn’t about to snap, you’re not alone.

Keeping your bathroom organized and clutter-free isn’t just about looks—it’s about creating a space that makes life easier for you and your family. Trust me, I know how quickly the chaos can pile up, but you don’t have to tackle it alone. I’ve been there, and I promise it’s easier than it seems. I gotcha, my friend—let’s do this together!

Efficient Bathroom Purging: Top Tips

I find a good place to start is by checking your medicine cabinet. Expired medications are not only ineffective but can also be dangerous. Check expiration dates and properly dispose of them. Many pharmacies or community programs have take-back options, so resist the urge to toss them in the trash or flush them down the toilet.  I recently purchased the most simplistic medication holder that is easily accessible, and hard to over fill with bottles.

Expired Cosmetics

Do you have a hard time saying goodbye to old makeup and skincare products? Using expired cosmetics can cause skin irritation or infections, so it’s essential to check those dates. If you’re unsure how old something is, it’s best to part ways. Keep your daily routine safe and fresh!  Using a make up caddy, which is visible on your bathroom vanity makes it a lot easier to see what’s expired. Or needs to be replaced. If you’re anything like me, you have a zillion of everything.

Past-Their-Prime Linens & Makeup Sponges

These items may not seem like a priority, but they harbor bacteria over time. Replace makeup sponges and loofahs every three months and assess your towels. If they’re worn out or frayed, treat yourself to some plush replacements.  When you are thinking they need replaced consider maybe replacing them with an Electric Makeup Brush Cleaner help preserve them.  And I think the next best thing to slice bread is the new black make up towels. It helps to keep the bathroom, looking tidy.

Unused and Broken Hair Tools

Broken curling irons, old straighteners, and unused blow dryers do nothing but clutter your space. If it’s broken or hasn’t been used in months, it’s time to let it go.  I just got done donating to our City Mission (p.s. they just love when I drive up)  for combination of blow dryers and curling irons that I just had to have. Are you the same now as the time! Donate it to someone who can use it and love it who cannot afford one.

Products You Never Use

We’ve all been there—buying products with the best intentions that we never use. If they’re unopened and still good, consider donating them to a local shelter. if you have a woman’s shelter for Veterans, that is another good place to donate any items. Otherwise, it’s time to clear them out.

Donating Tips

Thanks to donation pickup, you have plenty of time to put a little extra effort into your gifts. Before proceeding, keep these three things in mind.

  • Don’t donate trash. A backpack with a broken zipper isn’t doing anyone any favors.
  • Pack items carefully. Your great aunt’s pineapple lamp won’t be saved from the landfill if it is broken in transit.
  • Keep it clean. Throw the clothes in the wash, wipe down the desk, and cover the inscription on the front of the book with a bookplate label. It won’t take long, and it makes it much more likely that your donations get a second life.

Empty or Nearly Empty Bottles

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles with a few drops left often take up more space than they’re worth. Use up the last bits or recycle the containers to clear out the clutter.  Also, it avoids duplicates of the same product unless you really like to have a supply on hand. I’m not that person, my motto is “Less is Best”. One thing I did that I have not regretted for many reasons it’s visible and it clears up the clutter in your shower, it’s a 3 chamber wall mounted dispenser.3 chamber wall mounted dispenser.  It easy to fill and oh so simple to keep clean.  Not to mention your bathroom shower/tub stays tidy. I’m all about tidy.

Worn-Out Towels and Floor Mats

Frayed, faded, or stained towels and mats can make even a clean bathroom look tired. Swapping them for fresh stylish towels and there are so many pretty floor mats to match your style.  It can instantly revitalize your space.  Be on the lookout for these items when there are great sales going on. Best time to stock up.

Outdated First Aid Supplies

If you have a family with children, this is the most  important item in your home. Every day is a crisis. from scraped knees too a cut finger that may need to be amputated. LOL. Sound familiar?
first aid kit is a bathroom essential, but expired supplies are no good in an emergency. Make sure everything is up-to-date and replenish as needed.  A first aid kit in your kitchen is also a good idea. There’s nothing worse than cutting your finger and looking for a Band-Aid.  As usual, you find it after you have bled to death, LOL
