Tips How To Keep Your Home Organized

Are you struggling with home chaos? Need a little help with organizational solutions? I hear you….

Are You Tired of the Clutter?

If keeping your home looking spic and span is something that you are struggling with the good news is that there are ways in which you can master tidiness and keep your home from getting cluttered. With all the hustle and bustle that takes place in life, this is not always easy and it is understandable if you are having difficulty.  However, having a clean and tidy home is not just important for hygiene, it is one of the keys to mental health as well. It is often said that a cluttered space equals a clutter and mind. Here are some tips that can help.

Essential Rules for Home Organizing

Here are some very useful RULES to follow when your getting ready to Organize Your Home

1. Declutter First:  Before organizing, declutter by getting rid of unnecessary items.

2. Take 10 Minutes Per Day: Here we are focusing on clutter.  Could be as simple as picking up toys and putting them away.  You’re looking for some order and this is truly a small step but adds up and will become a “Good” Habit….

3. One In, One Out: For every new item you bring in, remove an old one to maintain balance.

4. Prioritize Functionality: Arrange items based on how often you use them for easy access.

5. One-Minute Rule: Designed by Gretchen Ruben.  If a task will take you or less to complete, do it as soon as you realize it needs to be done. This is truly my favorite.  These tasks are so simple you will want to do them and again they will become a “GOOD Habit”.

6. Categorize Items: Group similar items together for a more systematic and organized approach.

7. Create Systems: Develop systems for tasks like bill-paying, meal planning, and cleaning routines.

8. Label Everything:  Clearly label containers and storage areas to quickly locate items when needed.

9. Involve Everyone: Encourage family members to participate in maintaining an organized home.

Remember, consistency is key. Small, regular efforts can lead to a consistently organized and clutter-free living space.

Clean as You Go

One of the easiest ways to make sure you’re keeping your home looking its best is to make sure you’re cleaning as you go along. As you go throughout the day whether it is cooking or simply doing work around the home, wherever you have made a mess, take the time to clean it up right then and there. It can be difficult to fully take advantage of the “Clean As You Go” Method if you don’t have the proper cleaning tools and products beforehand.

Don’t procrastinate and put it off. I get it, I have a tendency to this as well.  So, you are defiantly NOT Alone. If you don’t do this the mess will keep piling up until it becomes mountainous and then it feels like you are climbing uphill trying to bring down Mount Everest. You’ll be cleaning for hours, and this can make life miserable and exhausting.

Find Storage Solutions

Organizing Closet

One of the major keys to a home that is a spic and span is utilizing storage. Having the right kind of storage such as bins, baskets and shelves in all the right places can make life much easier.   The Secret?  Picture this; bins neatly tucked away, baskets holding essentials with charm, and shelves tastefully showcasing our favorite items….ahhhhh!

You must make sure that everything has its place. This goes for just about anything in your home from the smallest things to the largest things. For example: you should have a place where people put their shoes on as soon as they enter the home.

Another example is a dedicated area in your bedroom where you place those high- quality helix earrings or that special necklace. The point is that there should be a place for everything and everything should have its place.

Labels are Your Friend

As mentioned, you should make sure that there is a place for everything but in doing so you want to make sure that you don’t lose track of where you put everything. This is how labels can save the day.

When you use labels, it makes it easy for you to identify where things belong and also where you have put them. You don’t want to be scratching your head looking around for something because you know you put it away, but you can’t be sure where exactly that is. That is a recipe for frustration!

Encourage Everyone to Contribute

If you live with other people even if they are young, there are ways you can get them to pitch in. Everybody can do something to keep a home organized.  Here are a Few Suggestions:

1) Make It A Game:  Turn chores into a Game or Competiton, making it more enjoyable for everyone.

2) Lead By Example:  Demonstrate a proactive approach to tasks. What’s that saying? “Actions Speak Louder Than Words“.

3) Express Gratitude: Acknowledge and appreciate each family member’s efforts.  Another saying, “You Get More Bees with Honey Than with Vinegar“.

I always try to think of a quote to use as my Mantra…it makes it fun and you always remember it!

When everybody pitches in it builds a support system that pulls you all together. The more warm and fuzzy things get the closer your family will be.

Conclusion

In the success of a well-organized home, everyone’s participation is the secret ingredient. By following simple rules such as decluttering, designating spaces, and embracing storage solutions, we not only maintain order but also create a canvas for shared joy. Picture the joy of turning chores into games, the laughter that this brings, and the satisfaction of rewarding each other for a job well done. As we weave these organizing solutions into our routine, we’re not just cleaning; we’re making memories. So, here’s to the teamwork, the laughter, and the warm, welcoming home we create together—where organization becomes not just a task but a delightful journey we share. Cheers to a home filled with love, laughter, and a touch of organized magic!
