With Fall right upon us, we can probably all do with some fall home Decluttering and Organization to get through the season. Like any other season, we acquire a lot of stuff and it has to go somewhere! From being mindful about purchases to decluttering and organizing the right way.
Follow this guide to learn how to declutter and organize your home this Fall as quickly and efficiently as possible. Let’s Go…
Prepare Your Plan
Start by determining what areas of your home need the most attention and organization. Set specific goals for what you want to accomplish in each area. Assess the entire space, this is a process and a lot of it will be trial and error. Start small don’t try doing your organization all in one day.
Sort and Purge
It is very easy to think. We need to get it all done in one day. The reality is that our homes don’t get cluttered in one day and it takes more than one day to get it decluttering and organized. Start by going through each area and sort items into piles of things to:
Sentimental Attachment and Clutter
Sentimental objects cause the most stress when decluttering. Be Gentle with yourself. It doesn’t always have to be expensive things that have value, and the smallest things can be held close to us. So, what can you do when you don’t want to throw something away?
you’re finding it hard to make enough space for your family or to keep your home feeling open and clutter-free, a storage unit might be the answer. Personally, I’ve found that when decluttering, having extra space to store seasonal items or safeguard cherished possessions makes a world of difference. Sometimes, the best way to organize is to give yourself a little breathing room. That’s why one of my top recommendations is to explore Local storage units solutions that can help you create more space to truly live in your home. It is an excellent way to keep things safe and secure for the next time you want to get them out. This is also a great way to keep your home feeling open and clutter-free.
Think Before You Make That Next Purchase
It’s always shocking just how much stuff we actually acquire over a year or even one season. We often buy things out of impulse without giving them a second thought, I am so guilty of that. This is one reason why we/I end up with too much stuff. Another is shopping addiction, which is even easier with online stores like Amazon, Target and Walmart with easy same day deliver or easy pickup. Who doesn’t L O V E that!! Being mindful about what you buy can have a great positive impact. Consider how it will look with current decor, where it can fit in, and if you even need it at all!
Fall Closet Organization Closets
With the change of season, now is the perfect time to reorganize your closets. Oh, those closets! Have you ever wondered where all that stuff comes from? Pack away those summer dresses and shorts, and bring out your warm, cozy sweaters and jackets. While you’re at it, consider donating anything you didn’t wear this summer or last fall. It’s a simple way to keep your wardrobe organized and streamlined while helping others in need.
As if seasonal fashion isn’t enough we/I use our closets as extra storage space too. And that’s when we begin to have issues! Of course, like 28% of people, you might refresh the home every 6 months. But that’s a lot. Like seasonal fashion, you can get a hold on your closets with seasonal purging. Remove summer shoe’s, clothing and anything else you haphazardly threw in there last season!
Declutter Each Week
You’ve probably read dozens of posts about decluttering and what it can do for wellness and health. It’s almost guaranteed these posts say to declutter every season. But what about each week? Yeah, that’s right! I see you, my friend rolling your eyes. That’s kind of what I do when I know I have to straighten up every week. We certainly do acquire so much in a week. Think about it. Magazines, books, manicuring paraphernalia, and even so sock and shoes can be found. Any of these can add much more than a room requires and even catch more dust. Try Decluttering shelving, coffee tables, counters and any open visible space once per week! Or try the “10 Minute Rule”. Spend 10 minutes each day cleaning up the clutter in a room. That breaks it up into manageable tasks. I set my clock on my cell phone, that way I don’t get carried away, and God forbid do too much! LOL.
