Life on Sylvan Lane
It’s the first and the last part of your home that guests will see. Your entryway sets the tone for your whole house, and should tie in with the rest of your home décor. Entry spaces are magnets for clutter, however, it can be difficult to decorate a space that receives so much traffic. I have a tendency to throw everything on the chair with full intentions of putting it away…… “our intentions are always good”.
Go through area/room: declutter and tidy. This is a good opportunity to purge
Add Lightning (if needed)
Inexpensive table lamp give it ambience.
If lighting is there, be sure bulbs are the right brightness or less bright as needed
Replace any burned out ceiling and lamp lightbulbs.
Clean out your front closet (if you are fortunate to have one) and purge!
Pick up and put away: clothes and excess items that may be lurking about
Add a Decorative Trash can (for discarded junk mail-to be shredded if needed later)
Make sure all boots, hats, coats are put away. (Consider Decorative Baskets)
Clean and dust
If you have a bench/chair- add beautiful pillows. (use inexpensive pillow covers)
If you have a foyer table, make sure it is decluttered and clean.
Set up a simple mail/keys area
Wash any mirrors in your foyer
Add a beautiful area rug/runner to your foyer to welcome your Guests.
it will also help to keep the rest of your house from accumulating Dirt.
There is something about fresh flowers that just make you “smile”.
The list looks long… but once you get into a routine of doing this and keeping ahead of it, it will become second nature. The same feeling you get when you first walk into your home is the same feeling others are getting. Your home is your Sanctuary……peace and calm.
